FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
CARRBORO, NC – Piedmont Health Services is very pleased to announce a new service provided in conjunction with the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. The “Small Business Services” is offered to the uninsured employees and family members of Chamber of Commerce members.
This pilot project is limited to the first 50 people who sign up. The services are available in any of Piedmont Health Service’s 6 conveniently located centers (Carrboro, Prospect Hill, Moncure, Siler City, Charles Drew (Burlington) or Scott (Alamance County) beginning December 1.
The “Small Business Service” is designed to address a significant challenge that self/employed and small businesses have regarding health care costs. Many of these companies and their employees simply can not afford to pay for health insurance.
While there are sliding fee scales for lower income families, middle class families are not eligible for these programs and have been priced out of getting regular primary care. This program is not health insurance but creates access to primary health care, affordable medications and a high quality medical home.
“We all know there is a health care crisis in this country for people to get affordable health insurance” said Brian Toomey, CEO of Piedmont Health Services. “We cannot solve that problem, but locally we can focus on creating access to health care and not health insurance. We are very pleased to work with an exceptional organization like the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce to offer this service. This is a very exciting addition to our services and we are anticipating a lot of interest.”
Aaron Nelson, President and CEO of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce added, “The Chamber is very excited to bring this new and important benefit to our small business members. Through this partnership we will make a positive impact on the lives and health of our neighbors.”
Betty Melanson will be the contact for these participants. They may reach her by calling (919) 619-2159 or (919) 933-8494 ext. 468.
If you have any questions, please feel free to give Betty a call.
