New Hanover CHC Receives Stimulus Funding

New Hanover CHC is one of many recipients in North Carolina to receive funding under the Capital Improvement Program for construction, renovation, and equipment, which is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The center’s patient load has been growing with the worsening economy, Fogler said.

“The federal funds that we normally get have not been increasing to the point to meet that,” he said.

The center received $1.4 million in government grants during its 2007-2008 tax year.

The extra $463,500 coming to the New Hanover center is a portion of the more than $20 million of stimulus money that will be distributed to community health centers across the state.
