Access to Care

The Durham News recently ran an article about uninsured patients who can't afford to seek care for serious medical issues. Over 1.4 million North Carolinians are uninsured; many of them make too much money to qualify for Medicaid, but too little to afford to buy coverage.

Project Access is expected to start helping patients this summer, with a projected start-up date of July 1. With funding from grants and the Durham County commissioners, Project Access aims to help 2,400 uninsured patients receive care in its first year of operation.

The project will be coordinated through Lincoln Community Health Center.
