The Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC), a chance for UNC Chapel Hill students to volunteer their time at free clinics in Orange County, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a celebration at the Carrboro ArtsCenter. UNC students enrolled in medicine, nursing, dental, pharmacy, physical therapy, social work and public health provide a free clinic once a week at the Carrboro Community Health Center, as well as a free dental clinic at Carr Mill Mall.
Faculty members also donate their time to oversee students at the clinics.
