“The Melvin F. Broadnax Health Center has been named in honor of Dr. Melvin F. Broadnax, mayor of Seaboard and long-time health care advocate for Roanoke Valley,” said Rural Health Group CEO Brian Harris. “In 1974, Dr. Broadnax along with a group of concerned citizens brought health care services to Northampton County. This building is named in recognition of his over 40 years of uncompromising and unparalleled support of accessible health care services for rural residents.”
Located near the Northampton County Health Department, the one-story Melvin F. Broadnax Health Center consists of eight exam rooms, an education room and office space to accommodate the healthcare needs of the people living in Northampton County. Full-scope family medicine services are provided by Drs. Gwenn Coath and Raven Deloatch. The new facility will give the doctors and staff the ability to offer state-of-the-art healthcare including electronic medical records and integrated behavioral health services.
Contributors to the building fund include: Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, The Duke Endowment and State of North Carolina. Financing was provided by BB&T.
